b.simple

Today I read an interview done to one of my favourite photographers - Misha Gordin. A photographer born in Soviet territory a year after World War II. Even though the war has been won by the allies the world was still in turmoil and Europe was soaked in blood and ruins at the time.

When asked why he adopted the name "b.simple" for his website he came up with a reply which is, to say the least, enlightening especially considering the fact that his infancy had been garbled, restricted and ripped off by the totalitarian regime in which he was born:

"In my view simplicity is sophistication. To be simple is to have a purpose. To be simple is to be wise. To be simple is to see the essence of things. To be simple is to express yourself with the minimum source. To be simple is to live in peace with nature. To be simple is to know how to make good food without a cook book. To be simple is a gift. To be simple means to be complex."
